International audience. In this paper, a thermal analysis of a synchronous machine using the double excitation principle is presented. Two global field windings introduce not only a more complicated structure but also additional heat sources and heat evacuation difficulties. In this research, the thermal analysis is accomplished by using a lumped parameter model, and results are compared with experiments.
